Help ease the pain of an ingrown toenail!?

My toe hurts SO FREAKING BAD. It won't stop throbbing. I am going to a wedding today so I am wearing closed toe wedges which probably aren't going to help but I can't wear any other shoe. How do I make the toe feel better in my shoe so I can walk?Help ease the pain of an ingrown toenail!?
Try cutting a ';v'; shaped notch in the center of the toenail, it there is enough nail to do it. Make it a generous width, not a little tiny notch. That can sometimes help take the pressure off the edges. Then soak the foot and see if you can get a bit of cotton underneath the corner to lift the edge up out of the skin. Then get those shoes off your feet as soon as you can. If the shoes aren't wide enough in the toe cap to let you wiggle your piggies and spread them apart a little, you may as well ditch them permanently as soon as you can. The reason nails ingrown is because of two things- either you cut the toenails too short, or you have shoes that are too small/to cramped in the toe cap. Your nails should be even with the end of the toe itself. Your toes should never touch the end of a shoe, and the toe cap should be wide enough to allow you to spread the toes a little and wiggle them. Shoes that fail the test need to go, or ingrown toenails will plague you. Notching the nail helps take pressure off the edges, but won't cure it if the shoes are too snug. Let the nail grow out, and look to your shoes. And whatever you do, don't go doing home surgery to dig it out. Soak it to soften the nail, and cut the notch.Help ease the pain of an ingrown toenail!?
Sorry to say, but you are pretty much out of luck for today. You will need to see your doctor or a podiatrist to have the toenail reduced. Once it is cutting in, it will become swollen and inflamed, and risks becoming infected.

As a stop-gap, you can consider taking some ibuprofen, a warm saltwater soak, and some topical analgesic balm; but these may not be that effective.

After reduction of the nail, you should have less than one day of discomfort before you are back to one-hundred percent.

Cheers!
