Very very very low broken toenail?

soo, my toenail i broken almost to the nub, but its not broken all the way across. about half way across. what should i do? rip it off and let it grow?Very very very low broken toenail?
If you can tolerate the pain, rip it off. If not, wrap it with a band-aid for a couple days and then rip it off. I just did this to my thumb and it hurt. I waited a couple days to let it grow out a little and also to get brave enough to rip it. It seems like it grew back pretty quick. Just do it fast when you do it. Ugggg! GOOD LUCK!Very very very low broken toenail?
if you can take the pain, just SLOWLY twist itt offf

I broke half of my toenail off will it grow back?

half of my toenail broke and it came off and i was wondering if it was going to grow back? it doesnt look like it is but im hoping it does! if so how long does it takeI broke half of my toenail off will it grow back?
don't worry it'll grow back. I'd cover it up so that bacteria doesn't get into your nail and I'd recommend cleaning it with alcohol everyday. It will probably take a couple of months to grow back and it might be a little bit disfigured, but don't worry everything will be fine.I broke half of my toenail off will it grow back?
um...mine came off and it;s been over 6 months and no hint of it growing back..so it doesn't always grow back

It take about a couple of months, but you can make it grow faster if you eat a lot of jello. Scientists show that when you eat a lot of that stuff, it's sure to make your nails tougher, stronger, and healthier, not to mention faster. So in some ways, that's good and bad. But take care! :]
Yes it will grow back, if not then fall off and you will grow another. As a general rule a nail will grow back completely in six months, so half a nail would take about three months.
yes it will come back. The speed ususally depends on your body. Take lots of protein and it will speed up the process.
it depend by age if over 18 it won't grow believe me if you under 18 it will grow because my brother by accedent he cut his nail it will take to grow about a month
Yes it will come back, mines did

I bent back my big toenail, and it turned white where it bent back to. should i cut it back to that point?

Just leave it.I bent back my big toenail, and it turned white where it bent back to. should i cut it back to that point?
NO! Cut back to the edge of your toe so it will be less likely to catch on something (again). Then if it is lifted you can either put a big bandaid or adhesive medical tape (preferable) around your nail and toe to keep it in place and help it to stay put. As the nail grows out keep it well trimmed. Try not to trim so close in that you go above where you toenail comes out from the side of your nailbed. That causes ingrown toenails.

Try to wear a closed toe shoe to protect it. If you can't and you don't feel weird doing it, wear socks and sandals. If all else fails, just sandals.

Keep the sides of your nail bed cleared of skin that tries to creep in to where the nail used to be by scraping away dead skin (you can use your finger nail) after you have been in the shower for a while (the skin softens). I know that sounds gross, but it will keep the nail from growing into that skin later.I bent back my big toenail, and it turned white where it bent back to. should i cut it back to that point?
Dear Lord no!

A few years ago, I REALLY smashed my toe nail. It turned black. It came loose except for where it connected at the cuticle. So I cut it off at that point. My nail finally grew back but it took a long time to heal and it's twice as thick...

If there's no swelling, just leave it be. If there is obviously blood under the nail and it is painful you could drain it to relieve the pressure. That can be dangerous. If bacteria gets in and an infection starts you could be in for a real mess. Best bet is to let your body reabsorb the fluid and heal on its own. Kinda like a blister. Never pop one if you can avoid it. As long as it's sealed, its sterile.
don't do anything it will bleed and hurt... if you do... may God be with you........ ya.. so don't do anything to it. let it do by nature
only if it has grown out to there. if the white part is still on the skin (nail bed) you shouldnt!! because you could get an infection.
No. Let it grow out then cut it. You will be in pain if you cut it below the quick. YEEOUCH!!
No, it kinda like bending a placstic spoon
haha sure.
if u do u will bleed
I would !
umm... no.
corn.
no just leave it and it will grow back to normal
no i did that once, it doesnt make a difference!

http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/鈥?/a>People who have had ingrown toenail surgery please help!!?
I had the same problem as you last year

I had ingrown toenail on both toes.

Actually the surgery was great.

They will slice of the puss, they will make you feel a lot better

the first day you cant wear closed in shoes it hurts like crazy, it takes about a week to recover but you will feel better by sat night just make sure nobody steeps on your toes it will hurt. :)

make sure you clean it often

it will stink :0)
You will be sore for a few days but you should be able to go to your party. Your toe will be numb for several hours after the surgery but you should be able to resume your normal activities that same day.

Don't wear shoes that will push on your toes, it will make it more sore. Be sure to follow the doctor's instructions, do exactly as he/she says. After it is all over you will be glad yo had it done, no more pain from ingrown toenails.

  • I have a ingrown toenail and i want to fix it myself, any ideas? i might just rip toenail out.?

Ive had it for a pretty long time now, like a mont and im pretty used to it now but im getting tired of the pain during pe in school and just like walking around. my toenail is like inside meat lol and ijust fixed my other on but it hurt real bad.I have a ingrown toenail and i want to fix it myself, any ideas? i might just rip toenail out.?
I always take a piece of cotton and stuff it under the nailbed where the ingrown is. It relieves pressure and keeps the nail off the nailbed and from growing into the skin. I usually change the cotton every few days as needed until the nail grows out. Also, Neosporin helps with any infections.I have a ingrown toenail and i want to fix it myself, any ideas? i might just rip toenail out.?
Man, I hate that!!! It hurts!!! I used to get them all the time, but now I get pedicures every two weeks, and no longer get them. BUT, before I could do that, I remember the cure I did myself. Ingrown toenails are two things - both the skin growing up into the nail, and the nail growing down into the skin. You need to have a skinny pair of scissors to first remove the excess skin from under the nail (if you soak your toes in warm soapy water first, it will be easier). Once all the excess skin is removed, you will probably have seen that the long edge of the toenail is also growing down towards the nailbed. You will have to clip the side of that nail (and it will hurt!) so that it is no longer cutting into your skin. You can get special scissors for that very cheaply at the drugstore. Your skin does not have to bleed to do this, unless it is already infected. If it is, after you do remove the skin and bad nail portions, you should pour on peroxide, then dry it and use Neosporin with socks for a couple of days.

I also recommend going to get a pedicure once your toes have totally healed to see how they do it. If you routinely get ingrowns, you should give yourself or get a professional pedicure every two weeks at least. It's worth it!

Why do my toenails grow up instead of out?

They look normal in all other respects, except for the 2 nails that grow up instead of out like normal nails. Can anyone think of a reason why this is happening? Why do my toenails grow up instead of out?
You do not mention is this is a new or existing condition....however, curvatures such as clubbing (convex), flatness, spooning(concave) CAN indicate illness in other areas of the body, nutrient deficiencies, drug reaction or poisoning, or merely local injury.

Next time you are at the doctor, remember to have him take a look. Its probably nothing, but its always safer to make sure. Why do my toenails grow up instead of out?
Blame it on your parents... No, they did not abuse you but you did get their genes. It is hereditary.
    No. Ask your doctor
well maybe that runs in ur family ya know.
some of us are closer to the monkeys than others

    just kidding
Have never seen any that grow up. Only out.

:] I need ideas, I am tired of little polka dots. What is a cute way to paint your toenails?
I paint mine as M%26amp;Ms, if you want something really creative. I paint each one either red, blue, green, yellow, brown, and orange, then I draw little white M's on them. They are so cute, if you like little cheesy things. Or I paint them as lady bugs, or I do little peace signs. Good Luck! What is a cute way to paint your toenails?
I have seen many variations on the ';french manicure'; with one bold and one pastel or neon. There are several places you can get appliques like stones and pictures for your nails and I have seen some very patient painters who create small scenes like a tree and presents for xmas or a watermelon for a picnic. It really boils down to how talented and patient you are. Good luck!
    try blood red!!

    or dark brown

and you could add stripes to them.

im really worried! i noticed my right toenail was looking a little long and after i measured it it was 2 mm .longer than the left one! im scared, should i see a doctor? Is my right toenail growing faster than my left toenaiL????!!!!?
Wowzers, thats a tough one. Well, theres a serious medical procedure oyu can go through, i believe its name is ';Cutyurtoenail';, and it involves a set of clippers. hope this helps :P

LOL, jk, no, u shouldnt see a doctor, theres nothing to worry aboutIs my right toenail growing faster than my left toenaiL????!!!!?
there was this girl i knew that had a left leg shorter than the right so she had a tall shoe that was unconfortable and so she went to a doctor and he had to break her knee and put on a brace so it would grow right.it took 5 years to grow.(she also needed an excercise trainer.

You should be fine, but if it really bothers you consult a doctor.
dont panic, nails grow at different speeds, always have always will,
    Omg wtf. Are You Serious
    THEN CUT YOUR TOE NAIL.

I have to go to the doctor for a ingrown toenail today. Does anyone know what they might do to my toe?

Well you will get a shot at the joint..which is called ';a block'; with lidocaine.

then they will snip and cut with a special tool.

and in many cases they take the whole nail..however often they may take just half of it.

You will have gauze around your toe..

You will have to soak it 2x a day just to get the bandages off (real pain) and help promote quicker recovery.

    And it will take about 5-6mo's to grow back%26gt;

    there ya' have it.

good luckI have to go to the doctor for a ingrown toenail today. Does anyone know what they might do to my toe?
A simple ingrown toenail can be teased back out through soaking and applying cream, but if it is embedded it will need to be removed. I have seen this done on a few people (I am a nurse) and it is a fairly simple procedure.

In the UK, the doctor will completely numb the toe first by injecting a local anaesthetic right into the toe. This is given a few minutes to take effect. Once the toe in numbed completely, the doctor will cut the toenail in half, and remove both halves with a special forceps. The doctor will then apply a solution to the root of the nail to prevent infection and further ingrown toenails. The toe is then dressed wit ha sterile dressing and you can go straight home. A nurse would then usually check the dressing in a weeks time to ensure everything is healing and there are no signs of infection. The process is not entirely painless, but It's much better than having an ingrowing toenail!

I'm not sure how this is done in the rest of the world, but I hope this helps!I have to go to the doctor for a ingrown toenail today. Does anyone know what they might do to my toe?
They will perform a simple surgical procedure. Basically cut your finger open and extract a portion of you toenail. Then off you go
I've had this done twice. Depends on how bad your ingrown toenail is. If it's bad enough for surgery, they will give you a shot of anesthesia to deaden the skin. Then, they'll cut a sliver off your toenail on the side that's ingrown. They'll put a solution inside your toenail base that will prevent growth on the very edge of your toenail to prevent ingrown toenails. Your toenail will look really skinny for a while until it grows back, but over time, it grows back to look like a regular toenail. He'll bandage up your toe and you'll be instructed to stay off your feet whenever you can. You'll have to change your bandages regularly and clean it with a solution such as iodine, which you can get from any drug store or Wal-Mart for cheap. He may also give you some pain medicine in case your toe hurts after anethesia wears off. You'll probably have to go back in a few weeks for a check up.
They will probley go in there and have to clip it out. You can do the same thing at home you go to a pharmacy and buy you a set of these siccor looking clippers or just ask them for clippers to remove ingrown toenails.I have them and they do work saves time and money from going to the doctor .Yes they do hurt when you have to remove them however in a couple days it will feel better good luck today. Don't kick the doctor when he does this (try not to any way)
well they might put a cotton under your toenail and see if it uproots the toenail. it works, i did it at home, not with the doctors and it works, ask for a tiny peice though.

I have a dead toenail! and Im hiding it for so long time, a big turn-off, what shall i do?

See a podiatrist or general internist. If you injured it %26amp; it has blood beneath it then there is probably nothing wrong you wont need to do anything. If you didn't injure it then definitely have it checked out.

Since you feel it is a big turn-off, i would ask to have it removed yet bare in mind that it is painful to recover from the nail being removed.I have a dead toenail! and Im hiding it for so long time, a big turn-off, what shall i do?
I am just growing one out, it has taken a year!! I know they are horrid. I used nail polish, but if you are a guy use nail polish that is a similar colour to the test of your nails.I have a dead toenail! and Im hiding it for so long time, a big turn-off, what shall i do?
kill the rest of your toenails to match.

What causes legs and feet to stay cold . Also toenail turning blue.?

With the toenails turning blue it sound as though you need to see a doc so they can check your circulation. My feet are always cold bu my nails never turn blue, I still had my circ. checked just to be sure it was fine. What causes legs and feet to stay cold . Also toenail turning blue.?
    Hi James

Get thee to a doctor immediately! Cold legs and blue toe nails imply poor circulation. This can be caused by many things but ultimately, if your legs aren't getting enough blood to them, then the smallest injury can become infected.

Poor circulation can result in nerves losing their sensation so unless you physically saw a wound, you may never know it's there until too late - and the worst case scenario there is amputation.

You have a clear sign that something is very very wrong. Act now.

Too young%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;???? okay, i guess. Yeah, you should just tell her that you'll pay for it and that they'll look nice and not too mature....your best bet is to get it done yourself.
well you could ask her if you raised the money yourself could you do it. and if she says no don't pester her, she'll be more likely to stick to it. Do some chores and such around the house without being asked go above and beyond normal then wait a week and ask politly, she'll come around to it. but make sure you have the money to pay for it first.
Yeah, do it yourself or get fake ones and glue them on yourself....but my opinion are acrylic nails are kinda ugly, cheesey...and MAJORLY tacky!!

Running: my toenails suffer. What do I need to look for in a shoe to prevent my toes from suffering?

I overpronate when running, but I do not want to lose any more toe nails.Running: my toenails suffer. What do I need to look for in a shoe to prevent my toes from suffering?
I'll float several ideas, as I usually lose one or two toenails a season.

    1. The fit of your shoes is critical. If you haven't already, go to a running shoe store and have them measure you, watch you run, go through everything again. There are shoes that will help with pronation, but your toenail problem may not have much to do with that. Orthotics and/or stability control shoes could help.

    2. If you are training for a marathon, you should be in shoes that are larger than you might buy normally. Your feet will swell, and shoe stores should steer you to a half size larger shoe.

    3. Some shoes have larger toe boxes, like say New Balance. This might help if your're cramped.

    4. If you are sliding, or moving too much such that pressure is being placed on the nails, you can alleviate some of this in adjusting your lace patterns. Your shoes should be snug, not tight, and definitely not loose.

    5. Consider your socks. Heavier socks like Thorlo can compromise your sizing efforts, and bring the pressure back.

    6. Acceptance. Despite my best efforts, in high mileage seasons I lose one particular toenail, no matter what.

Consider it a badge of honor. When someone asks what happened, ';I run so much that I lost a toenail'; is a good answer. You're a road warrior now.Running: my toenails suffer. What do I need to look for in a shoe to prevent my toes from suffering?
make sure toe nails r short and check 4 space in trainers b4 u buy, failing that, wear flip flops lol x
I had the same problem until I started wearing running shoes a size bigger than I would normally
right shoes and talk to a pro
I would Seek the advise of a Podiatrist. even regarding shoes. I supernate and I tried correcting things on my own and got shoes that were supposed to help the supernation and I ended up screwing up my knees. I don't run anymore because of it and had to have knee surgery. you may also need someone to monitor your running gate and give you some tips in changing or improving your step. I didn't have a lot of information to go on but I wish you luck.
I cannot tell if you are purchasing your shoes too small or if you have a lot of motion in your feet due to the overpronation/supernation that you have during the natural movement of the feet.

I worked in the retail sport shoe industry for many years in both management and sales, so have some suggestions for you.

Many people's shoe size actually changes with age, due to the natural aging process, changes in weight and the fact that you do not even want to think about the pressure being put on your feet with everyday walking, which can double or triple with the running motion.

Go to a reputable shoe store that actually has employees that will measure your feet, both length and width as well as the height of your arch and have someone work with you to find you the correct shoe.

Look down on the Brannock (measuring device) while you are standing on it, and if your longest toe touches the size 10, you will generally need either a 10 or 105 to give yourself enough room in the toe box.

If you overpronate/supernate you most likely have a high arch and need a shoe with excellent arch support and a wide as well as deep forefoot.

I have the same motion in my feet and the shoes that fit me the best for stability and motion control are Saucony, New Balance and Adidas.

Nike and Reebok will not work for me, they are too narrow and the toe box is not wide or deep enough for my foot and the motion of natural movement.

Each one half size in footwear is only 1/3 of an inch, so you are much better off with a shoe that gives you a good thumbs width of room in front of your toes. Do not fall for the old, ';they will break in,'; which is the way that a lot of footwear is sold. (Incorrectly, according to my background and training)

I did not work for a company that put me on commission, so I never had to sell anything under pressure to make a paycheck.

If you are losing toenails, your toes are either striking forward into the front of your current shoes or your toes strike upward and hit the top of the toe box.

Make sure that you are wearing a good quality running sock, such as Thorlo; which will cushion your foot, help support your arch, and wick the sweat away from your feet to keep your feet properly placed in the shoe and on the arch where it should be.

If you run over 500 to 600 miles in a pair of shoes, they do need to be replaced, as the support will start to break down, and that will contribute to your feet moving too much inside the shoes, which can lead to blisters and toenail damage.

If you continue to have a problem with your toenails, you may want to make an appointment with a podiatrist, as you may have something else contributing to the problem in addition to the footwear.

    Good luck and happy running.
This is common with shoes that don't fit well. Either the toe cap presses on the toenails, or the shoe is a little oversized and your foot slips forward as you run, pressing the toenails against the toe cap.

Although bargains can be had at big sporting goods stores, the mall, outlet centers, etc., I think the wise thing to do would be to buy a pair of shoes at a dedicated running store. Most cities over a couple hundred thousand in the metro area have one. Take your present shoes with you, wear the kind of socks you wear while running, and explain to the shoe fitter exactly what problem you're having.

If you're really a serious runner, this might be worth traveling to do, if there isn't a local store.

BTW, you might consider ankle taping or braces to minimize your over-pronation, teaching your ankles good form.
I agree with what these folks are saying- go to a running store and get fitted for the right shoes. If you overpronate, they can help you find the correct shoe.

Regarding the toenail- I lost a toenail, but it was because my shoes were too small. Actually, they fit me perfectly- but in distance running you want them to be a little too big- I know, sounds weird, but it's true. I got a bigger pair (it takes a couple of runs to get used to them) and I've never had a problem since.

  • What can I do about my dogs toenails splitting?

I have a 4 year old mini schnauzer who keeps having problems with her toenail splitting from the quick. It's very painful for her and when it happens she limps around in pain. I took her to a vet and he said it's happened to a lot of dog this year and I could try giving her vitamins....I did that, but there hasn't been a change. Is there anyone out there who has experienced this with their dog and has a solution for me?What can I do about my dogs toenails splitting?
Usually what causes a dogs nails to split is length. If you keep the nails trimmed short as much as possible, they should not split. Vitamins are also important. What can I do about my dogs toenails splitting?
Your dog is lacking in oils. Oils keep the coat in top condition %26amp; stops the dogs nail splitting.

Use some sunflower oil %26amp; massage into the dogs nail daily if you want but I would suggest feeding your dog tuna in sunflower oil with its meal pour about half a teaspoon of the oil out of the can onto the meal %26amp; empty the rest out, squeeze the lid down to get it out %26amp; depending on what size your dog is medium/large should have half a can of the tuna on its meal.

You have not mentioned what meal your feeding your dog.

If the meal is pretty cheap run of the mill that you can pick up in any supermarket then it is no good, you should feed either flint river ranch dog meal, or you should be feeding james wellbeloved either of these food have the essential oils they need etc
Check your dogs toenails once a month. If they are allowed to grow long they can be torn off like that. They should just a little longer than the quick. Take her to a groomer once a month %26amp; keep them short %26amp; this won't happen.
    Get a new vet!

This could be caused by yeast or a fungus... Dogs need good food to help keep their immune system functioning well... If you buy your kibble at the grocery store/Petsmart, etc. then you are feeding your dog junk food for every meal of the day.

get your poor dog some grain free food. google: dog + food + grain free

How many visits to get your ingrown toenails fixed?

When you had each big toes with ingrown nails on both sides, and you had the acid (phenolisation) procedure done, how many visits did it take you to get it all done?

I figured with one procedure each side, each toe, it would be just two.How many visits to get your ingrown toenails fixed?
I had an operation/surgery done on both my big toe ingrown toenails and it only took one dayHow many visits to get your ingrown toenails fixed?
I can't really answer your question on the Acid Procedure, but I also get ingrown toe nails on my big toe and I go to get regular pedicures and they cut and take them out. The way they cut my nails prevents future ingrown nails. If you find the right person to do a pedicure they will work wonders. There's nothing more iritating than an ingrown toe nail,,, good luck!

How long do you have to stay off your feet after having ingrown toenails removed?

I'm planning to have one ingrown toe nail removed and want a rough estimate of this since I work, drive, and start school soon. How long do you have to stay off your feet after having ingrown toenails removed?
Removal of an ingrown toe nail can be done in the minor operations section of the out patients department.

In a normal healthy young adult it can done during his first visit to the OPD under local anasthesia. The whole process will take about 1o minutes.

He can leave the OPD immediately after the operation and cpme for dressings initially after 3 days and then every other day . In 1 week the wound is healed.

He can start his normal duties on the day following the operation.

But if the person is a diabetic the doctor will prefer to control the blood sugar and do the operation.

Or if the site is badly infected the doctor may give antibiotics for a few days and do the operation

In your case you can get it done ad even go to school for the afternoon session.

For the full growth of the nail of the big toe it takes up to 3 months, but the wound gets healed in less than 7 days

How to get rid of infected ingrown toenails?

My sister has had an infected ingrown toenail for almost a year. She's been to the doctor twice to have it removed, she's been on antibiotics, and she's soaked in water w/ Epsom salt...and still no luck. Any suggestions? How to get rid of infected ingrown toenails?
Ouch, ingrown toenails hurt especially when filled with pus.

She should try and lift the edge of the nail that is digging in her skin and place a piece of cotton in between the nail and the skin to prevent the nail from digging in.

Once the nail passes the spot where it grows into the skin she should be ok as long as she doesn't cut her toenail below that point.

If her toe has puss she should try to squeeze it out to remove the pressure even though it's going to hurt like crazy. How to get rid of infected ingrown toenails?
You can try the following steps at home to relieve the pain caused by your ingrown toenail and help the nail to grow out naturally:

Soak your sore toe in warm water for 15 minutes 2 to 3 times each day.

Wedge a small piece of cotton, such as part of a cotton ball, under the corner of your ingrown nail. This will help lift the nail off of the skin.

Soak your toe and change the piece of cotton each day until the nail grows out and can be trimmed.

Do not use a sharp object like manicure scissors to dig under your nail, because the toe might get infected.

Do not try to use a needle to drain the pus from your toe. This could make the infection worse.

While your ingrown toenail is healing, wear comfortable shoes or sandals that do not press on your toe.

Use these home treatment steps for 3 days. If they do not help, you might need to see your doctor. It is important to see a doctor if your toe gets infected. Your toe might be infected if it hurts more than it did before you tried the home treatment. Call your doctor if your toe is red, warm, swollen, or drains pus, or if there are red streaks leading from your toe.
In the army they cut a tiny triange out of the middle of the toe nail (at the end on the white part, a tiny v incision). As the nail tries to grow back together it pulls the sides out of the skin and cures the in grown nail.
Did the doctor remove it? If not go to another doctor.
    Cut her toe off?

What can I do to make my toenails grow faster?

The first three grow fast, but the fourth one and the baby one don't seem to grow at all. What can I do to make my toenails grow faster?
Toenails generally grow much slower than fingernails. It's normal to take 18 months for the nail on your big toe to completely grow out. There are different gelatin capsules and polishes that claim to help nails grow faster and stronger, but don't count on those claims being accurate. Keep your nails healthy and free of fungus and be glad you don't have to trim those nails as often. What can I do to make my toenails grow faster?
Cut them regularly maintaining a square shape of ur toenails, never cut em leaving a round or semi round shape. Buena suerte good luck!
Maybe it is your shoes that are cramping them and not allowing them to grow.

    Massage with Petroleum jelly.

Soak in warm water with some salt and lemon.

    Give a pedicure if possible.

Trim a bit. So dead feeling will go.

    Do drink water .
Oh, gag me!!!! I hate long toenails,,,I'm always trying to cut mine down to next to nothing!!!!!
Why do you want them to grow? Then you just have to cut them
I hate toenails. I'd be so happy if mine didnt grow. lol..then you dont have to worry about cutting them.

  • I have ';hammer toe';. or fungus on my toenail that makes it yellow and thick. What can I do to cure it.

There is some anti-fungal stuff in the foot care section...or if that don't work there is a prescription.

So my entire toenail fell off... second toe... is it gonna grow back?

Cause that would suck... a lot.So my entire toenail fell off... second toe... is it gonna grow back?
    Yep. it will.

It takes a little while, maybe a few weeks. There's not much you can do in the mean time. maybe cover it with a band-aid. and keep it clean (wash your feet). So my entire toenail fell off... second toe... is it gonna grow back?
It will grow back, but if you didn't injure yourself, you may have had a fungus under your nail which made it fall off...so go to the MD to see if you need an antifungal med.

    Good luck

    What cured YOUR toenail fungus?

If you've never been afflicted by this, just move along. Looking for people who have had a mild to moderate toenail fungus and didn't resort to drastic or costly cures. What cured YOUR toenail fungus?
I have found nothing to cure mine. OTC treatments didn't work. I was on both Sporanox and Lamisil...both very expensive prescriptions. Took two courses of both of them and still have the stupid fungus. Only other option is to have the nail removed. I can't see the sense of that since it doesn't bother me...just looks terrible. What cured YOUR toenail fungus?
I used this thing called Ketoconazole Cream.

it is especially made for those kinds of things.

Uh I think you have to have a perscription, so ask your doctor or go to Walgreens and ask them about it.

It doesn't cost much, and heals fast!
Dont waste your time, fungus infections are very fatal.Try to visit your doc at the earliest
I personally don't have it, but have a best friend that did... so I didn't want to move along :P

She used Lamisil tablets. Take 1 a day for 5-7 days. They will knock it right out. I am not sure if this is on your list of ';costly cures';... but I thought I would throw it out there just in case. Being in the medical field I can say it is definately worth it... because going a different route, with less effective medicines or creams, can take a long long time to fully heal, if that. She tried ALOT of things before settling on spending some extra bucks on Lamisil. And feels silly wasting all the money on the other stuff that didn't work before.

Hope you get it taken care of. I know it bothered my friend too.

Dog has ingrown toenail. What to do?

My dog has an ingrown toenail on his back paw, I just noticed it a little bit ago. I don't know how long it's been there for. I've been reading up on it, and want to know what would be the better way of handling it. Cutting it myself or going to a Veterinarian? Any idea how much it would cost??? I don't care if its expensive, I just want to make sure I go in with enough to get it done. Dog has ingrown toenail. What to do?
If the nail is growing into his pad, you need to get him to the vet today. That is so very painful. The nail will have to be cut back, and depending on how far into the pad it is growing, wound cleaning and bandaging and antibiotics will need to be done. At the hospital I used to work at, that ran between $60 - $125 US. Dog has ingrown toenail. What to do?
My sisters dog had this problem. His nail would grow Very fast after he ripped it out once.

You should take your dog to the Vet right away. This is a very painful thing and should be delt with by people who know what they are doing. It pad will have to be cleaned. And it might be suggested by the Vet to just remove the nail completely so this doesn't happen again.

To prevent this from happening you should take your dog to get his/her nails clipped every month or month and a half for about 6 months. Then you can wait every 3 months. Your dog will feel much better.
Take him to the vet right away got to hurt like hell.
bring him to the vet which offers pet grooming. they can handle it as efficiently as possible

i mean the before pain ! before i am asleep!Im goin in hospital to have my ingrown toenail removed if u have had dis done tell me all the pain involved!?
They did not put me to sleep! they just put numbing shots inmy toes, i'm jealous!

it wll stay numb for a day or even 2, mine did, %26amp; they give yu a few pain pills, not many, so be conservative. %26amp; neosporin w/pain helps more than the regular neosporin. learned that the hard way , when some one spilled pepsi on my cut out shoe ! yes, you'll have to cut out a pair of shoes , some old ones or something to wear for a few weeks. take care of it.

soaking in betadine water helps. 1 tablspoon to a pan of water for 15 minites 3 or 4 times a day feels really good.%26amp; helps healing.Im goin in hospital to have my ingrown toenail removed if u have had dis done tell me all the pain involved!?
I can't personally say i've had one removed, but im sure it'll be less pain once you've had it removed rather than having the constant throbbing pain of having the nail still. (Hopefully you can think of it that way.) Good luck and i hope you feel better! Don't worry too much :)

How much does the average Chiropodist charge for just cutting someone's toenails?

My husband needs to visit a chiropodist. Does anyone know of a reasonable one in the Cardiff/Vale of Glamorgan area, and how much do they charge? How much does the average Chiropodist charge for just cutting someone's toenails?
They can charge what they like, and it's totally dependent on your husband's health and the difficulty of the job. You're best phoning for a quote. Generally you're looking at a single session, non-London prices, something in the region of 20-35 pounds.

When did women start painting their toenails?

Was it when skirts rose and shoes opened up in the front, making the toes visible? The twenties? The thirties? Is it concievable, ancient civilizations did it?When did women start painting their toenails?
yeah maybe the late twenties or thirties in the western world, but parts in africa and the middle east used to cover the whole of their hands and feet (including toenails) with henna. This was a looooong time ago maybe in 400 AD or something.

How do you deal with an ingrowing toenail?

First of all you need to start soaking it. Usually salt water starts helping kill the bacteria from the infection, or pouring peroxide on the site will kill some of the germs as well. Your nail is growing into the skin, this is where bacteria is causing inflammation. you need to make an appointment with your doctor to have the nail removed. They inject your toe with local antiseptic, numbing the area, they either shove scissors in the middle of your nail cutting it in half and removing the infected nail or they completely remove the whole nail. Don't worry, I've had this procedure done to me and it's nothing to it! You wear and band aid covering your nail bed until a new toenail covers the area. For now wear open shoes or flip-flops for now. Have to remove the nail as soon as possible though. How do you deal with an ingrowing toenail?
You can call for an expert in manicure and pedicure. These nail technician can fix this thing out. But be very careful in hiring. You can consult at any spa centre for their nail experts so may not run the risk of making the problem worse. How do you deal with an ingrowing toenail?
i had an ingrowing toenail, i know how painful it is, you have to get the whole nail removed. i had it done, the relief afterwards is amazing
There's not much you can do yourself. Go and see your doctor, it may be necessary to have the nail removed if it's bad.
    Go to a chiropodist
pmsl!! rattly teeth, bleeched hair, caked in make up and feet like my gran lol!!! Infact,,, your not my gran are you?

My toenails are turning white and I think it is a fungus. How do you treat it naturally?

About 10 years ago I started noticing while spot on my big toenail. I keep toenail polish on most of the time so I didn't notice how bad it was getting. Last week, I took off the polish and the big toenails were both almost all white. I think it may be a fungus. How do you treat it naturally and for how long? How long will it take to go away? Do you know if the treatment will be effective if I keep nailpolish on? Thank you!My toenails are turning white and I think it is a fungus. How do you treat it naturally?
Always keep them clean and dry. Soak in warm water with sea salt and a few drops of tee trea oil. Trim neatly, and put one of the OTC anti fungal ointments , sprays or laquers or u can use tee tree oil as well. There 's a medication worth checking out called Canesten Nail Set but its only sold in Germany. Check out Bayer/Germany website. This condition takes 2 years to clear up.My toenails are turning white and I think it is a fungus. How do you treat it naturally?
you have to suck on them thats what i do
Buy a big bottle of listerine and some cotton balls.

Every night using the cotton balls (soaked with listerine)

put the listerine on your toe nails or if you prefer

put it in a bowl and put your feet in the bowl. Keep

doing it until the fungus goes away.
I haven't ever gotten white spots on my toe nails, but I do get them on my finger nails. When I get mine it is from a lack of calcium... I take a multi-vitamin with a calcium vitamin to keep them away
Given that it is difficult to reach the infected tissue, there is no effective homeopathic treatment for toe nail fungus. Even the only antibiotic available is roughly 50% effective. (Lamisil). Your best bet is to apply a topical antifungal cream (clotrimazole) daily, this wont cure it, but it will at least improve the appearance.
soak your feet in an epsom salt solution. also: use a B-vitamin complex. you might want to also consider reducing your barefoot walks in the grass and on unclean inner surfaces.
I had to have my toenails removed due to a fungus, but it didn't hurt and I'm glad that I had it done. See a podiatrist for this condition.

The nail polish is not good for your nails.....it has probably made it worse. I wouldn't let it go to far or it will become painful and that hurts...a lot of nerve endings!

    Best of Luck!
    EAT it!

The link above is a detailed explination on how to clip a dog's toenails. But there are some important things I'd like to highlight. First off, always cut the tip of the toenail and never too close to the red blood vessle inside, which you can see if you put a little pressure on the paw to make the nails extend all the way outward. Always clip on an angle like the toe nail has already grown, and if you can use a rasp to file down any of the sharp edges of the nail like you would your own. Now, if you cut too far into the nail and Scout starts to bleed profusely, I've heard that you can put either baby powder, flour, or a substance given by vets to stop the bleeding. Good luck and please read over the explination in the link above! =]
You just have to take the dog paw in your hand. Then you look at the claw, and find the little black thing in it. Clip the nail just before you get to that. If you clip into that, it will hurt the dog, and he/she will bleed. If you don't know how to do it though, I recomend that you get a professional to do it for you.
Don't do it sweetie, unless you know how to trim a dog's nails, you could hurt the dog, and end up with a lot of blood, as you might cut the so-called 'quick' which is the place where the blood/vein and the nail connect. Contact your vet who will surely be able to do it, and show you how, then if you feel secure with it you can do it yourself later. Even if you have nail clippers that have a 'safety' on them, it can be risky. Also anytime you have the dog professionally groomed they take care of that as part of the whole service. You really don't want to try this without getting a little training/experience yourself! Good idea to ask! ;-) Maybe your vet could show you and then watch you try! Pet your doggie for me!

And hey--maybe this is a good excuse to call your Dad at work and discuss the problem! Tell him you need to take the dog to the vet or groomers to have the nails cut, and that you'd like to learn how to do that yourself! God bless! (My collie/retriever mix dog Isaac is smiling and wagging his tail at you--he just got his summer clipping and they did his paws and nails great!)
If you don't know how to do it, and are nervous about it, simply take him to the vet or groomer and let them do it. It's only like 10 dollars or so.
if youve never done it take it to the vet .its very dangerous if youre not used to doing it
go to a groomer they will do it 4 ya

Help! ingrown toenail with soccer game tomorrow?

Whatever you do, DON'T REMOVE THE TOENAIL! It will cause your toenail afterward to grow in improperly and it'll hurt even worse than it does now.

What I do it to wrap it in pre-wrap [if you play soccer you should know what I'm talking about] just until the game is over.

Afterwards, go to any Walgreens or stores like that and buy something called 'Grapefruit Seed Extract' or 'GSE'. Soak your toe in it for 15 min. about every 5 hours or so. After about 2-3 days, the ingrown toenail will be gone. This stuff is amazing...it heals mine every time. Trust me, I play soccer myself and I get these ALL THE TIME.

I hope this helps!Help! ingrown toenail with soccer game tomorrow?
You're going to have to remove it. Find a towel or a leather wallet to bite on as you pry the nail out with a butter knife or a similar object.

What percent of people bite their toenails?

I do it, and I only know of one other person who does. Most people I know think it's gross and think I'll get sick. Well, I almost never get sick. I can't even remember the last time I was really sick. So I was just wondering how many other people are like me, and see the convenience in such a harmless practice. What percent of people bite their toenails?
I do, and my old college room mate does. What percent of people bite their toenails?
eeewww cough puke....my little sister used to do that though

What color should I paint my toenails next?

Right now they are an Emerald Green and I'm thinking something springy. Give me specific brands and colors you like if you want to so I can find them at Walgreens. What color should I paint my toenails next?

How does one remove polyurethane from toenails?

I refinished my hardwood floors last month in barefeet. They turned out great. Unforturnately, I got some MinWax polyurethane on my toe nails, causing an ugly yellow tinge. Is there a safe way to remore this? It is a strange predictament, I know. Thanks for your help. How does one remove polyurethane from toenails?
You should have worn shoes. Just let them grow out until the polyurethe is all gone. How does one remove polyurethane from toenails?
I'd suggest fine grain sand paper. something like 100 grit or more. that should take polyurethane off. I'd personally use my pocket knife or a utility knife. actually, i probably wouldn't get polyurethane on my feet to begin with and if i did i wouldn't really care.

    Don't cut yourself.

also, nail-polish-remover will probably work. rubbing alcohol will probably work. kerosene will probably work. paint thinner will probably work. mineral spirits will probably work. vodka will probably work.... but i like knives.
Laquer thinner usually works, as does Naptha (lighter fluid). Both are flammable so use care. Wash with water after to remove any chemical residue.
Mineral spirits, found in any hardware store.

pure tea tree oil is reported to be very effective on fungus infections.

2-4 times a day coat your toenail and surrounding skin with it.

Dont double dip the applicator or you'll put the fungus into the jar of oil.

Depending on where you live you may be able to get the oil from the supermarket, otherwise try the chemist. Is There a Treament for fungus toenails besides having the nails surgically removed?
Not going barefoot may be adding to the problem. Fungus loves warmth, moisture and darkness - all provided in closed in shoes.Wear cotton socks so your feet can breathe a little and choose shoes that aren't tight around the toes.Much better to have your toes open to the air though. Treat your shoes!

neither topical treatment nor yanking your nails out will help. the fungus (yeast) is in your intestines and is fed by sugar and carbohydrates and alcohol. your doctor can prescribe pills that kill the fungus. these pills are also very hard on the liver. you will always have to be careful with sugar, carbs, alcohol if you get rid of the fungus. another alternative is to go to a naturepath who will prescribe a yeast killing diet and natural supplements. modern medicine does not recognize yeast over growths.
If it is that bad, I recommend you go to a skin doctor.

There is a prescription drug, the name is ORIFUNGAL, from an European pharma/co. You drink it, and in time (some months depending on how bad your infection is), fungus in your body dissapear.

American doctors don't prescribe european drugs very aften, who knows why. Ask your doctor if it would work for you. Maybe he/she will recommend something different or equivalent.

There is an infection callled ';jungle rot'; that is very hard to heal.

Your best choice, ask your doctor. If he tells you there is not cure, try to get that drug from abroad and try it. It is better to try it than ';no cure';.
Yes there is treatment other than removal. See a podiatrist and he will give you oral antibiotics and an ointment. If they are not green - get tended to as quickly as possible. Good luck.
I believe the nails have to be surgically removed, otherwise no.

  • How long should I grow my toenails in preparation for the birth of my babby?

And what colour should I paint them?

Serious answers only. How long should I grow my toenails in preparation for the birth of my babby?
I had my baybee's daddy paint my toenails every two weeks when I was pregnant. Different colors every time. And stickers and stencils and everything else I could find to make his life miserable. How long should I grow my toenails in preparation for the birth of my babby?
tha length is not half as important as the plaid coloring. as soon as the babby breaks the shell, you must wiggle tour toes, the plaid must be easily seen as it is important to establish parental control if you want your babby to follow you.
Purple is a color any babby would enjoy.

If your babby doesn't enjoy purple you should misplace said babby accidentally on purpose.

    Okay.

Try to think of ALL the things your hands have come in to contact with today.

    ...

It is a LOT of things.

    Now;

think about what your toes have come in to contact with today.

    ...

well most likely, that list includes socks and air.

Finger Nail Polish just gets rubbed off easier, because you use your hands so much.
because you're not using your toes and feet to write or to use as much as your fingers and hands. as well when you shower or bath, you don't scrub your feet as much. you wash your hands on a daily base too.
I think it is because you cover and protect your toenails while your fingers yoy hit and chip on things. Not ot mention they are exposed mor eot the elements and soap ect.
Because you wash your hands a lot and use your hands for a lot more things than you do your feet.
your feet aren't as exposed as your hands and you constantly do things with your hands :)
Your feet aren't used to constantly pick things up and stuff.

OK peeps, I've got a serious problem... I've got a bruised toenail from dancing on pointe!!!!?

So: I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about how to treat a bruised toenail, it hurts, and it's flip flop season, lol... But seriously 10 points, help would be greatly appreciated! :(OK peeps, I've got a serious problem... I've got a bruised toenail from dancing on pointe!!!!?
If you go to the doc within about 48 hours of getting it, he/she can drain it for you so the toenail doesn't turn black and fall off. Otherwise you can pretty much just ice it to help with the pain and wear band-aids. You should also try to avoid dancing en pointe for a bit, as that will definitely make it worse. You can paint it some crazy color to help with flip-flops!OK peeps, I've got a serious problem... I've got a bruised toenail from dancing on pointe!!!!?
Try to stay off pointe for a while (if at all possible) and use a bright, summery color for your toenails to cover up the bruise cosmetically. As for helping it heal, its kind of a waiting game, but you can take an OTC pain killer and warm wet compresses kind of help. Treat yourself to a professional pedicure and it will definitely help!!
I've had 3 bruised toenails, 2 of which fell off. There's really nothing you can do once it's bruised except put a bandaid on it and let it do what it's going to do. Next time, make sure your toenails are short enough to not get shoved back into the toe and get bruised but not too short, which hurts a lot.
Treat it with an ice pack and drink lots of water. Sometimes if it doesn't hurt TOO much, you can massage it a bit. I find that helps a bit.

If you're anxious for it to go away really quickly:

Another thing I've heard around the dance department here that works wonders is Arnica gel. It helps with making the discoloration go away. I've never tried it but I've wanted to. My friends who have tried it have all said it works well.
well idk if you know this but you are sapose to cut your toe nails for a reason, and that reason is becuase it will become bruised, for now your best bet is first to wash your foot, then cut, and file your nail(s), then put aloe on it frequently and it should heal in 12 weeks, sorry but dance is a major sport its not going to head in a couple days.
Soak your feet in epsom salt , they will get harder and it will take more for them to get bruised next time. as of for right now, it will heal on it's own
Paint your toe nails blue or something. random colors are in style now and it works mine are painted purple right now! :-)
You just gotta let it heal.

    Put a band-aid over it.

And you'll be lucky if your toenail doesnt fall off.

    cover it up with make-up

What are some signs of ingrown toenails?

I think I have one or am starting to get one, because the big toe on my right foot has started to hurt on one side of the nail, but I'm not sure.

What are some ways to prevent/treat an ingrown nail? I really can't see a doctor or something because I have no health insurance and cannot afford to pay out-of-pocket.What are some signs of ingrown toenails?
Get some Epsom salt from the pharmacy department of the store (it's really cheap - a buck or so) and add it to some hot water, then soak your foot. This will soften the nail and prevent infection, and you should be able to avoid going to the doctor.

Also, take some Advil if it's swollen. What are some signs of ingrown toenails?
okay it will hurt kinda, but take the long poky thing in the nail clippers for cleaning your nails and then put it in the side of the nail and pull out the edge (it is kind of hard to explain) to make sure that the nail does not grow in the wrong direction. If you actually understand what I am trying to explain you might have to keep up with doing that to keep your toenail normal...
Cut a V in the middle of your toe nail that it is happening to, it should clear up in a day or so. It's properly cutting the nail to prevent it from happening.
ew ew ewwwww i think i lost my lunch..............nahhh im just kiddin. sorry i cant help ya all i can say is u might wanna see a doctor b4 this gets outta hand....
You have trimmed your toe nails incorrectly.

You may see flesh that is covering the edge of the nail. That is mostly callus.

You need to carefully trim the nail closer, down the side of the toe.

Keep a little bit of cotton stuffed between the flesh and nail untill the nail grows normally.

When you trim your nails, do not trim down the sides as you do finger nails. Cut straight across, leaving a bit of nail on the sides. You can trim just a bit of any sharp ends.

This prevents flesh from growing over the nail.

    Apply iodine to prevent infection.
cut the nail straight across in the meantime use peroxide and soak your foot in epson salt water directions on the box.
that's a sure sign - and you should go to the Podiatrist - because she/he has a special tool to pull the ingrown toenail up out of the toe - only thing is - they do grown back! Even though you cannot afford - get on a payment plan or something - your feet are worth it - because in the long run it can only get worse. It should not be a huge cost - and see if they do some medical procedures free - it cost nothing to ask. Speaking about your case is worth it.
Swelling, where the nail starts to rub on the skin. if its infected, pus...where your w.b.c's are trying to fight the infection...thats of course if you dont remove the part of the nail thats causing it....if you leave it untreated, your toe will swell and swell until it becomes so painful that you WILL pay whatever price to have someone remove it!!!

it the nail is not at that point, you can get try and clip the corner of the edge of the nail that is starting to embed itself into your toe. you can purchase scissor like nail cutters, or nail cutters that are designed with a semi-long curvy tip specifically for ingromn nails....and just very carefully snip the nail away, but (and i stress this part heavily!!!) DO NOT leave any fragments of nail left uncut in your toe, as it will continue to grow and even more painfully embed itself into your toe.....make sure to sterilize whatever you use to extract the nail with alcohol, especially if you already have infection....

how to prevent them, let your nails grow a little past the groove on the corner of your toes, and never cut your toenails in a rounded way, always cut them straight.....

without consulting a doctor, i think thats the best you can do...REMEMBER: STERILIZE!!!
It can get infected. Try peroxide.
soak it, wear sandals, if that dont help after a week, go see a doc. I dont have insurance either, paid 400 last week, and have to get a second one done in a while, anothr 400.. its expensive, but after a while, u will hurt so bad, you will think its worth it. like i did, the toenail starts going through the skin, and you will literally be able to pull out pieces, but never all of it. go see a doctor now, its cheaper if u catch it early.
pain in the corner of your toe. it hurts. try gently lifting the corner of the nail and stuff ing LITTLE scrunched up balls of cotton under the corner of the nail till it grows out. it will take some time and patience to stuff them in there but it will help the discomfort. .
    pain is the first sign
    http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/Ingro鈥?/a>
    PAIN!!!!!!!!!
To make it from getting worse, soak your toe in water that is warm, but not too uncomfortable. This will soften it up, so it won't grow into your skin. Do this once a day. It will also make your toe feel a little better. Do not pick at it, that will only make it worse. Put Peroxide on it, to kill the germs so it won't get infected.

Some signs of an ingrown are redness and swelling of the toe, can't put a shoe on without it hurting, and a lot of pain!

Go to a doctor to see what you should do. That would only cost you about $20. You might have to get surgery, depending on how bad it is.
ouch...i feel sorry for you. but if u feel pain then that is probably a sign of an ingrown toenail. and if ur toenail is starting to look crooked and the nail isnt growing straight then you need to get it treated immeadiately.....b4 if gets out of hand.

    good luck.
Along with soaking it, another good tip is this...

Use toe nail clippers to cut a little V shape in the center of your nail. This way when the nail grow it will be pulled towards the center and hopefully help your ingrown. I know tihs sounds like baloney but it was recommended by my doctor. There are also little ingrown nail kits your can buy at the pharmacy that you wear over night and are real cheap.
Here's a good way to prevent them, and to start healing up the one you have....with nail trimmers, cut a small v in the middle of your toenail that you think is ingrown. As the nail continues to grow out, the v will be closed up by the growth and the edges of the nail that are ingrown will be ';pulled'; out to fill up the v space you made. Make sense?
Ask my grandpa he is a padiatrist (foot doctor) seriously.
Pain is really a sign of ingrown toe nail..

I use a nail file to lift it out of the bed .. that hurts but it doens't grow into the skin anymore.

cut toe nails straight across.. never trim like you do your fingernails.

I've had it like 5 times and i usually just try to cut the nail where it hurts and it would go away eventually..but i do know someone who's had to get surgery for it.. (yikes)
unless you stubbed your toe it sounds like an in-growing toenail.

I had to have surgery through ignoring the problem, seek proper advise and help.

    Good Luck.
If you can afford about $12 go see a nail salon. Most of the time if a started ingrown isn't bad yet, they can help you with it.

To prevent it, you need to grow your nail out so the corners do not get imbeded into your skin.
a lot of pain on the side that's ingrown and redness around it.
I had one there was pain on the side of my toe by the nail also it looked kinda red. I had to have it removed.
a buildup of skin on the upper inside corner of toenail (normally painful and discolored) and when you try to pull back the skin you cant find the edge of the nail
Signs of an ingrown toenail would be - redness, swollen, sore, infected looking. Get some Epsom Salt and soak your foot in that and warm to hot water.
That's probably it. You can get tools for digging out and cutting it. It will hurt like hell to do so. Then it will probaly grow back. I let mine grow out through the skin and now I don't have the problem anymore. (But it did hurt for a couple of months while letting it grow out)
    When I get an ingrown toe nail my toe will hurt on the side that has the ingrown toe nail. I then cut it out with nail clippers. In three months or so I will have to redo it again, but it beats paying a Dr. To do it.';
Cut a ';V'; shape in the middle of your big toes and they will grow in toward the ';V'; and not into the side of your foot. Give it a couple of days to take effect but once it does you should feel better. You must also cut your toe nails this way everytime you trim your toe nails or they will come back. Good luck.
OOch! It is very painful! It could be red too which means it is already infected. Get to your doctor they can numb your toe and cut it out for you. Good Luck!

How to take care of a growing toenail after surgery?

Is it possible to clip it? try to get the sharpest manicure scissors possible and gently trim it very slowly until it becomes shorter.

Then, put peroxide on it to clean it, and an antibiotic ointment to protect it....

    good luck.

How can I can I make dots on my toenails with a different color of polish?

I tried using the brush and just ended up with a mess, and a toothpick and either ended up with a huge blob, a itty bitty dot (like a period) and a line.

Help! How can I can I make dots on my toenails with a different color of polish?
If you want something that is free, just use the head of a expired battery, a AAA size for small dots, AA for medium, C for bigger And D for a balloon size! try and use many colors and dot sizes for effect...

CaRiEHow can I can I make dots on my toenails with a different color of polish?
nail polish pens. Sally Hansen and Nic by OPI make them, and they come in a lot of different colors. They all cost under $10, and they can be bought at WalMart and CVS. They have the ease of a pen, so you are more in control of the dots. Nic's Sticks come in a lot more colors than the Sally Hansen brand, though. You can always go to the sally hansen or OPI websites to check them out for yourself. Hope this helps. Good luck
Whats really good to make dots for your finger nails and toe nails is paint pens. It sounds crazy, but it works, its really cute if you do a base of black then do green, orange, pink, and blue dots. Extremely cute. Good luck.
at some beauty they sell skinny brushes sperate or actual whole bottles but instad with a sknny brush

check the stores around u and hopefully they have them =]

i bet u can find them online too (cause u can buy like polka dot elephants online so they probably have em out there lol)
I usually use a toothpick, but it also doesn't work all the time. Try using a fine paint brush. Twirl it in the nail polish and then the dots should work.
I use the point of a pen. Just dip it in the nailpolish and apply to your nail. Perfect :) That's how the lady at the salon did a flower on my nail.
    toothpick

dab a little bit of nail polish on a tissue or something and take the right amount you need with the toothpick
    a toothpick.
It's like $8 to have a nail technician do it for you and it'll look much better.

I cut my budgies toenail and now it wont stop bleeding. whats going to happen.?

How do i stop the bleedingI cut my budgies toenail and now it wont stop bleeding. whats going to happen.?
Try not to worry, it will stop on it's own. If you want to help, pack it with baking soda or flour. You have to pack it into the little hole where the blood is coming out.

I'm a Vet Tech and when I was in school they told us that when we need a blood sample from a budgie, to cut it's toenail. It was a good way to get blood without hurting the bird.

Please try not to worry.I cut my budgies toenail and now it wont stop bleeding. whats going to happen.?
flour for baking helps to soak up and also clot blood.
try and put Vaseline on it i did same thing to dog and vet told me to try that
Dip it in flour or baby powder
I think the Vet Tech is roght about coating the nail with flour. This seems like the best thing to do. I remember cutting my dog's toenail too short and the vet told me to do the same thing.

    It really works, trust me.

    I hope he's ok.
need to keep some styptic powder on hand for just that reason.
    Don't let it get infected.
You must stop it bleeding. A styptic powder such as ';Quik-stop'; will stop the bleeding. If you do not have any of that to hand, apply some flour. Hold the entire foot in the powder, packing the powder against the clipped nail. ...
buy,, blood stop and allways keep it handy when triming nails or wings.

try flower for now, and go buy the blood stop its goood to have just in case you went to deep it might start bleeding again, they might try to bite on it.
You need to stop it right away or it will bleed to death. Just hold your budgie and put some cornstartch on the tip where it is bleeding. You may have to continue doing this a few times a day for like 2 days or so just to make sure it has totally clotted.
Put some cornstarch on it, that will stop the bleeding.
ouch that must hurt alot . well why dont u try to put a bag of ice on it see if the bleeding will stop . and just put something like cream medican on your toe and put a bandge on it after that will help bleeding .
Pat some flour or cornstarch on the nail. Direct pressure will also stop the bleeding.
dip it in flour, that will clog it
it should be fine...if not, take it to petsmart. they're pretty strong birds, don't get too damaged too easily.
